Unbreakable

Let me set the stage for this story: Chadd beleives he's invincible. Not just a positive person's belief that he can overcome any obstacle- he truly believes that if he were to be hit by a car while crossing the expressway, that not only would he survive, but the car hitting him would have more bumps and bruises than he would.

Now here's the story: Ashton and Lorelei have been sharing Lorelei's room because I have been redecorating Ashton's. So basically, Lorelei's room is wall to wall bed. Her toddler bed, then Ashton's full size mattress on the floor, then another toddler mattress next to that. It's pretty much been like bounce-house fun in there.

So a few nights ago Chadd was putting the kids to bed. Just as he was walking into the bedroom, he sees Lorelei standing on her dresser and then launch herself to the mattress below. Chadd says, "Lorelei!" and she looks up at him and says, "Dont worry, Dad. I can't break."

Of all the things to inheret from her father, she had to get the Superman Complex.

Just to be on the Safe Side...

Lorelei and Spencer were playing in the den when suddenly my mommy-sences were triggered and I sneak in to check on them. I find this:

Lorelei takes the opportunity to say that it was good that I came in because now she would "be more safe" while getting down. Clever. Being the ever-so responsible parent that I am, I made her stay there while I got the camera.

Slippers

It's impossible for Lorelei to wear a new item of clothing without her asking for me to take her picture. Here she is, absolutely loving the reindeer slippers that Nana & Papa got for her.

Deep Thoughts

On observations:
This conversation between Lorelei and Ashton occured on January 31st.
L: (looking around) Where's the Christmas tree?
A: We threw it out.
L: Awww. I miss my big Christmas tree.

On size:
Chadd made a comment on how big Lorelei was getting and she said, "No, I'm a little girl." I said, "You're a little cute." She replied, "No. I'm big cute."

Lorelei can throw some pretty huge fits for such a tiny creature. Most of the time I have no idea what the fit is even about. But I have to give her credit. When she gets too upset and has no idea what to do with herself, she goes to her room and crawls up into her chair. That's what happened here. She was super upset about who knows what (sometimes I think that she doesnt' even know what she's upset about) and ran screaming to her room. I peeked in on her to see that she was ok and I went back to making dinner. It got quiet pretty quick so I went back up to check on her and she was out. She got her paci's out of her bed and rocked herself to sleep. I had to take these pictures because when she's sleeping, she doesn't look at all like the fire-spitting demon that first crawled up into the chair. Do I dare say that she actually looks angelic? Maybe I wouldn't go that far...

It's Electric!

Even a perfect haircut is no match for the almighty powers of static electricity. Ashton thinks this is a pretty hilarious phenomenon.
